Head-to-Head is the catalogue of an exhibition of works by Micah Lexier and Kelly Mark, curated by Robin Metcalfe and held at Saint Mary’s University Art Gallery, Halifax, NS, from 27 August to 9 October 2011, and then touring to The Robert McLaughlin Gallery, Oshawa, Ont., from 21 January – 18 March 2012. Head-to-Head presents the artists’ work “in a spirit at once collaborative and playfully competitive,” organised into pairings that “illustrate their differences of approach as much as their similarities.” The catalogue features 179 full-page black and white illustrations, together with a general essay by the curator and accompanying texts that present and explain the impetus behind each pairing.
